Though Eames Demetrios had grown up in a world of design, it was not until 1988 when he made his film 901: after 45 years of working (about the closing of the Eames workshop in Venice, CA) that he began to explore design with a more professional eye. In 1993, Eames Demetrios began leading the Eames Office full time and become extremely interested in issues of design education and design authenticity. Today Demetrios is still director of the Eames Office, but has recently evolved his relationship with the office to permit more time to consult with design institutions (whether families, museums, or companies) to protect the authenticity of designs, the designer's intentions and the consumer's experience. He also lectures frequently about design issues and design history and works with such cutting edge firms in the design industry as InterfaceFlor and Emeco in his filmmaking work. |
